First Impression (Fall 2014): Terra Formars (7/10) - Battle with the Bugs

~My First Impresson~

Whenever human sees a cockroach, they will squash it as a common reflex. What if the balance is shifted? Now the cockroaches squashes humans whenever they see them. This is some weird imagination which is the core concept of Terra Formars. A battle between humans and monster bugs is really nothing new. We have seen it in monster movies, in Hollywood movie Star-ship Paratroopers, in a lot of anime as yokai character. So, what's new with this series new gore anime? Hmm... I'm really not sure. The making is good, voice acting is fine, music is also good enough, but story concept wise I'm not sure how it's going to be. But with only two episodes out, it's hard to tell anything. I remember an old anime "Project Arms" which started like average and ended at awesomeness.

Though the concept is about a battle with the terrifyingly evolved cockroaches, I can't understand how they became like human. The new monster cockroaches only has 4 limbs, face like a human, they got finger's like a human and they fight with big clubs, just like old cave mans. I think there is two possibility, either the mangaka sucks with his imagination about monsters, or this is going to turn out a mor sci-fi like story. For example, in order to survive in the harsh environment of planet Mars, humans did a experiment with the DNA of the most adaptive bug in planet, the cockroaches, and then mixed it with human DNA. The result is those Humanoid Cockroaches. Since I don't read the manga, I can't say for sure. I just hope the anime company packed enough materials for this short lived 13 episode series. I'm gonna follow this series at least for another couple of episodes.

~Synopsis~

With the space program attempting to travel to Mars, 21st century scientists were tasked with warming up the planet so that humans could survive on its surface. They came up with an efficient and cost effective plan of sending cockroaches and mold to the surface so that the mold would absorb the sunlight and the insect corpses would serve as a food source for the mold.

It is now the year 2577 and the first manned ship to Mars has landed on the planet and the six crew members are ready for their mission. But what they find are giant mutated humanoid cockroaches with incredible physical strength. The crew members are easily wiped out, but not before sending a transmission back to Earth. Now, humanity will send elite warriors to exterminate the mutated bugs and claim back Mars.
