First Impression (Summer 2014): Bakumatsu Rock

~Synopsis~

The story is set in the Bakumatsu era, at the end of the shoguns' rule over Japan in the middle of the 19th century. The Tokugawa shogunate uses the brainwashing Heaven's Songs by the top idols in Shinsengumi to subjugate the country and its people. In this Japan, writing or singing any songs besides the Heaven's Songs is a capital offense. Sakamoto Ryouma and the other rockers rise up and change the world with rock 'n' roll for freedom and justice.

~My First Impression~

Rock Music in Tokugawa era? That's supper stupid. The creator of this story has a very wild imagination. Yah, wild and stupid. Until I watched this anime, I believed that only little kids can have this kind of imagination. But guess I was wrong. Anyway, an anime about music has one major requirement, that's "Good Music", which is absent in here. I'm not a Rock enthusiast, but at least in the first episode, the songs were nothing special. Oh, and this series felt like "Yaoi". Anyway, here is what I think of the series:

Animation: 7/10
Sound: 3/10
Story Concept: 3/10
Action: 2/10
Character Design: 4/10
Enjoyment: 4/10
